BrianBrian Grimm was born in Bastrop, Texas in 1968 and grew up in the  small of town of Elgin, Texas.  His talent was discovered at an early age and the rural farm life was rich with inspiration. Self motivation was an asset as painting was primarily self taught. After achieving an art degree in 1992, Brian worked as a graphic designer in Austin. After seven years he left to pursue a career as a fine art painter. With his love for nature and animals, Brian Grimm focused on wildlife art.
Brian’s love is the rugged western landscape and its wildlife. Outdoor studies, en plein air, are essential in helping to recreate natural lighting and atmosphere. Observing one of Brian’s paintings, it is evident that the landscape is not simply a backdrop for the animal to be framed by, but holds as much prominence as the animal, working together as in nature itself. Painting in oil, prepared masonite allows a firm surface for full expression. Confident, painterly brushwork is a hallmark. Noted influences on Brian’s work include representational artists such as Wilhelm Kuhnert, Carl Rungius and Clyde Aspevig, but the works of painter Ken Carlson influenced Brian early, and he credits Ken for giving patient critiques during the early years of his career.
Always seeking artistic excellence, Brian continues to push the boundaries of his vision. He strives to further his approach to color harmony, design and form while remaining true to his distinct expression. Brian lives with his wife and two sons in Fredericksburg, Texas. He makes frequent trips throughout the U.S. for reference and for shows.
