V. . . . VaughanV....Vaughan spent many years as a graphic
designer/art director/illustrator/cartoonist. Her clients have included Samsung,
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, the City of Austin, and Harcourt
Publishing. V....Vaughan’s work in advertising won Addy Awards and helped
start and grow several Austin businesses specializing in fun themes presented
mostly on t-shirts and related products. V....Vaughan Arts grew to a full
service, automated t-shirt complex based in Round Rock, Texas. RockSports and
Round Rock Screen Printing still feature V....Vaughan’s colorful designs
in national catalogs and websites. Since 1989 Virginia has been the art
instructor at Round Rock Christian Academy, in Round Rock, TX, where her
students have won numerous awards. She also teaches summer workshops at the
museum of Western Art, Kerrville, and painting workshops across America
throughout the year. Today, as a plein air painter she paints on location
throughout Texas, and across the USA. She has studied with the best oil
painters: Ray Vinella, Kevin Macpherson, Ann Templeton, Kathryn Stats and
Carolyn Anderson. V....Vaughan’s “Painting-a-Day” project,
Last Year on the Farm is a collection of 365 paintings. They depict the changing
of seasons and a way of life, as her family gave up their 4 generation farm near
Austin. The exhibit gained national attention and awards as it was displayed at
American museum venues in 2008. Recently Vaughan’s paintings have been
winning awards in juried shows across America. Museums and numerous collectors
have acquired them. (see info below). Since 2007 Vaughan presents a painting a
day on her blog.Artist Statement “My favorite painting location,
still, is around the countryside near our old farm in Manor, Texas! Being an
artist is being a communicator. I pray my work will speak encouragement to the
viewer and that it will be ENJOYED! I love light, color and creating a message.
I paint because it’s the best way I know how to observe study and tell the
story of God’s creative work, and to think His thoughts after Him.
